It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
